Following on from the successful dinner to celebrate the 300 A Grade Game milestones of five of our umpires in 2013, this year we are looking forward to another great night of celebration on Saturday 27 July to celebrate Terry Maher's 600th A Grade Game, Adam Walkers's 300th A Grade Game and Liam Lenten's 200th A Grade Game.
The dinner will be held in the Garvey Oval rooms at Parade College (where we train), commencing at 7.30pm - cost will be $20 a head for a sumptuous 2 course meal - hot buffet of roast beef and roast pork with salads and hot vegies and choice of pavlova or sticky date pudding for dessert, with a selection of cheeses as well.
Drinks will be available at bar prices.
This event is open to all current and past umpires, particularly anyone who has umpired with our guests of honour over their journeys in achieving their milestones.

It might be a while away yet, but all Life members are asked to keep Saturday 3 Aug 2013 free for our second annual life members dinner.
Following the unanimous show of hands at last years inaugural dinner to continue this function as an annual event, the Executive has once again booked Casa D'Abruzzo in O'Herns Rd Epping - cost remains the same as last year, $35 a head for a 3 course meal, with drinks from the bar.
A formal invitation will be issued to all life members and their partners closer to the event - so put it in your diary now.

Entertainment Books are back for 2013! All members who have contributed to the Entertainment Books fundraising program over the past years are encouraged to yet again dig deep and help the Association build funds for the future as we get closer to a new, permanent home base!

In case you missed it, at last year's Annual General Meeting, a new category of membership of the NUA, being Social Membership, was included in the NUA Constitution.
The Executive is keen to see ex umpires in particular, take up this category of membership and maintain your relationship with an Association you helped get to where it is today.
Whilst not having permanent rooms to call home has impacted negatively on our ability to organise "on site" social functions since the demise of George Crt, the 2012 social calendar was one of the best supported for some time, with functions including ten pin bowling, a night at the greyhounds, free admission to an AFL game at the MCG, a life members dinner to name a few.
At this point in time, we are supremely optimistic that our new rooms at Barling Reserve in Plenty Rd Kingsbury will be ready for us at the start of 2014 the season, and would like to engage as many ex umpires as possible between now and then.
Social members pay subscriptions at 50% of the normal membership rate, currently being $15, are entitled to all other subsidies as normal members (including $5 off cost of each item of off field clothing) and are invited to attend all functions organised by the Committee of Management (unless a function is aimed at a specific target audience such as a Life Members dinner).

As part of it's off-season activities, the NUA Exec recently updated and endorsed the NUA Code of Conduct.

Equally important to be aware of, particularly with Article 1 of the NUA Code of Conduct is the NFL Social Media Policy. This is the policy that all umpires are required to adhere to as NFL Employees and the policy is endorsed by the NUA Executive.
