Expression of Interest - Referee Level 4 Course
Gippsland is currently searching for the generation of people who have a passion for football and may like to try their hand at officiating in the game. It is a great way for all current and ex-players to expand their football knowledge remain active and play an important role in the global football family. This is open to all boys and girls 13 years and above.
Expression of Interest
To express an interest in taking part in a Level 4 Referee Course please complete the Expression of Interest form.
The level 4 training program is aimed at match officials in junior and youth matches and it consists of theory modules, practical sessions and mentoring as a referee and assistant referee at a community level.
The aim of this program is to educate new referees on the FIFA laws of the game and disciplines of refereeing, to uphold these laws, standards of the game and contribute to the enjoyment and fair play of football in Victoria.
Obtaining your accreditation (4 steps).
- Complete the Online Laws of the Game Certificate (Prerequisite to the course - link below)
- Find a course and Register for a Level 4 course & Pay for the course
- Register as a Level 4 referee on My Football Club (post course)
- Your regional branch will coach you through two on field assessments and mark you as competent and accredited

Materials/ Resources
- Online Laws of the Game Certificate Course
- A hardcopy of the 2014 Laws of the Game book to be handed to you at the course.
- PDF File of the Level 4 Junior Referee Workbook & Referee Resources
Equipment (Valued at $80+)
All candidates completing full Level 4 Accreditation, and who commence referee appointments, will be provided with the referee Shirt and referee kit.
- Referee shirt (Aqua or Black) with accreditation badges
- Two Assistant Referee flags (to provide to your assistants on games)
- Whistle
- Red and yellow card set
Ongoing Value
- First season of referee registration inc (valued at $100)
- Mentoring within local referee group on actual appointments.
- Access to Referee Development Academy
- Ability to earn money by refereeing!
