Draw 5th February, 2014 & Temporary Teams List

Dear Members,

Welcome back to you all. Hope you are looking forward to another fantastic year for our Junior Basketball Members.

Over the christmas break we have had some great success with our Representative teams playing in their first round of Qld North Junior Basketball Championship.  All teams competed well at their first round and are now back in the swing of training again getting ready for round 2.

U8's have moved back to Wednesdays for Season 1 and will be a 1/2 hr session  from 3.30-4.00pm at a cost of $2 per child. U8's commences 12th February, 2014. Children born 2007 & 2008 are welcome.

Please find attached Week 1 of our temporary teams.  We will see how these teams go for a couple of weeks.  We endeavour to have no more than 7 players per team.  If we need to make a 6th team in some age groups we will do this as deemed necessary.

Also - we will need parents to look out for their names in the canteen roster.    Also we ask that parents in each team share the responsibility of scoring and washing the uniforms over the course of the season.

Congratulations to our Burdekin Tyre Service U18 Girls rep team who recently competed at Qld State Championships on the Gold Coast.  The girls played off in the Division 2 Final and were unlucky to go down to Gold Coast Tides.   The girls had a fantastic championship only losing to this Gold Coast Team that was actually a Lismore team that had played in the South Brisbane Competition all year.    Alicia Kirk was also named in the final team of 10 to represent Qld North at the up and coming Australian Championships in Canberra in April this year.

Two other Burdekin Juniors Matthew Wight and William Pugnale who played for the Townsville Heat at the U18 Qld State Championships went through undefeated in their campaign but were unlucky to go down to a very good Southern District Spartans team in Division 1 mens  final.   Matthew Wight was also named in the final team of 10 to represent Qld North at the up and coming Australian Championships in Canberra.

Good luck Alicia and Matthew.
