Major Fundraiser - Held Needed & Draw 5th February 2014

Dear Members,

It’s that time of year again when we have our biggest fundraiser for the year.

Our association hosts the final round of the U12 Queensland North Junior Basketball Championship with teams travelling from Mulgrave, Cairns, Townsville and Mackay, Saturday & Sunday 15th and 16th March 2014.

We run the competition at two venues (Stadium & St Francis) and need the help of all basketball parents to ensure the success of our event.  CAN YOU HELP.

A Canteen and Door Roster template for both venues will be at fixtures on Wednesday – please put your names in where you can help.  Representative players it is compulsory for you to assist on this weekend as part of your representative commitments.

We also require Baking – cakes & sweet slices, savoury slices & fresh sandwiches (e.g. ham & salad, egg, ham & cheese, HCT, chicken & salad etc. cut into triangle quarters). Can you please let Julie Heuir know what you are able to supply on email bjheuir@bigpond.com.

Julie will also be holding a canteen working bee to pack lolly bags, make icy cups etc. – details to be confirmed.  Please let Julie know if you can help.

A working bee to prepare the courts will be held on Friday 14th March from about 5.15pm (mowing, putting up new nets, setting up games control, score benches and canteen, etc.) Your help is required.

Yours in basketball

Shane Feeney, Burdekin Amateur Basketball.

The Draw for the 5th March, 2014 has been uploaded to the website - www.burdekin.basketball.net.au

Week 4 of fixtures is underway.  Teams have been finalised and from next week games will be played for points.

Just a reminder to parents – Please check the canteen /  scoring / refereeing rosters.  If you are down to score you are also required to take the team uniforms home for washing.  We understand that many may never have scored before, however, there are lots of people around to help you out.  This simple job cannot be left to the same parents every week. If you are unable to make it the week you are on roster can you please arrange a replacement.  We are always looking for help so if you see the canteen is really busy and we look like we need a hand please come and join us.

If you are an adult who has any knowledge of basketball at all and can help out to ref a game now and again it would be greatly appreciated.   Please see Sandra Wight.

Congratulations to the U14's and U16’s on their efforts at the QNJBC in Cairns and Mulgrave recently.

This weekend our U14's and U16's will head to Townsville for the 3rd and final round the QNJBC.  Good luck to all teams.

That's great - we want you to have your say and share your thoughts with the world. However, we have a few rules that you must follow to keep it fun for all. Please don't be rude, abusive, swear or vilify others. Apart from some pretty serious sport sanctions, we also can ban you and report you if things get out of hand.
