Boys’ high school soccer season winds down; varsity top 3 set

The boys’ high school soccer season ends tomorrow with the varsity top 3
determined already and the J-V title still up for grabs.
Tafuna, Fa’asao-Marist and Leone are all
through to the playoffs with the Warriors getting a free pass to the
championship game scheduled for Wednesday, April 14, 2010 at Pago Park Soccer
Stadium.
Tafuna leads the division with 19 points,
Fa’asa-Marist with 17 and Leone with 12.
The Crusaders will play against Leone on
Monday, April 12, 2010 at Kananafou for the right to face the Warriors in the
title match. When these two teams
met during the regular season, Fa’asao-Marist defeated the Lions handily 5-0 on
Wednesday, April 8, 2010.
Tafuna is the only top 3 repeat from last
year as the defending champs, Nu’uuli Voc-Tech,and runner-up Samoana Sharks are
both out of contention even with the Wildcats having one game remaining on
their schedule.
The Wildcats are currently 4th while the
Sharks 6th.
In the junior varsity bracket, defending
champs Samoana will not repeat this year as they are sitting back in fourth
with no chance of overtaking the top 3 – Leone, Faga’itua and Tafuna,
respectively.
The Lions are leading by a point (13) over
Faga’itua (12) while the Warriors are third (10) with all three having three
games remaining to play.
Nu’uuli Voc-Tech has the opportunity to
play spoiler as they face the Vikings (April 9) and Warriors (April 10) while
the Sharks can foil Leone’s chances if they beat them on April 10.
The Lions’ other opponent is Tafuna on
April 9.
