March Madness- Day 10 Highlights

Kolonia, Pohnpei- On Day 10 of the 2012 Pohnpei Basketball March Madness Tournament saw Strippling Warriors playing in their second match in the second preliminaries against the strong and defending champions Kolonia team. Troy Yaingeluo and the Warriors shocked Kolonia with a score of 50-43. After a good start in the first period with a 14-0 by the Warriors, Kolonia's momentum sparked after a no-look 3-point buzzer beater by #21 Maverick Salvador in the first period. Kolonia would control the game in the 2nd and early 3rd period after the buzzer beater. The Warriors then took over the game with Troy's (#14) and Glenn Torres' (#21) power rebounding and hustle plays. Troy Yaingeluo lead in scoring with 16 pts and Glenn Torres putting in 14 pts. On the Kolonia side, Maverick Salvador lead in scoring with 10 pts, Willy Hawley Jr. (#14) with 9 pts, and David Actouka (#11) with 8 pts.
In the second match of the evening was a nail biter by Visual Impact and P4 A.K.A Ng with Visual Impact claiming the competition with a score of 71-65. It was one of those sea-saw games where you see lead changes and ties. With good cardio by the Visual Impact team, they were able to run some fast break plays towards the final minutes of the game. Branson Kohper (#24) lead in scoring on the Visual Impact side with 24 pts and Bradley Kohper (#21) with 21 pts. Tommy Lucios (#24) lead P4 with 21 pts and Bobby Celestine (#7) with 15 pts.
The final match of the evening saw the Out-laws blowing out IBC with a mark of 93-69. With full court pressure and man-to-man defence right after the opening tip, the Out-Laws took the lead and never looked back. IBC was having a difficult time getting into front court and running their offence plays. They were able to cut the lead to 15 points in the 3rd period and that's the closest they can go. Kezin Jr. (#6) lead the Out-Laws in scoring with 20 pts, Anthony Simram (#15) with 18 pts, and Rodney Suldan (#11) with 16 pts. IBC's scorer for the match is (#25) Rodines with 18 pts and Joshua (#32) with 13 pts.
