Colonia Women Take Out Youth Tournament
Colonia (57) defeated the Tamil Red (53) Dirt in Game 2 of
the Women’s Yap Youth Basketball Tournament Championship on Saturday night the
21st June 2008. With a packed crowd along with the visiting American
YTS Basketball Coaches in attendance the stage was set for the most thrilling
match of women’s basketball ever played in
The match was played in great spirit as both teams applied some excellent full court man to man defence which proved dividends. A close match right throughout saw over 10 lead changes and had the crowd cheering for their teams.
The victory to Colonia gave them a 2-0 lead in the best of 3 Championship series and thus handing them the trophy.
Coach James of the Colonia team said “I was very nervous at the end of the match because the scores were so close. I’m happy that we managed to hold Tamil off for the last few minutes because they are a very good team.”
Congratulations to the girls from both teams who put on a fantastic display of women’s basketball that really showed what they are capable of. We look forward to seeing them continue to improve in the future.
