The Raiwaqa Basketball Players Association will be hosting an U18 Basketball Tournament for both boys and girls which will run from the 4th May - 8th June 2013. Intersted teams or players looking to join a club is to contact Mereleni Waqairawai on 9337434
3 ON 3 ROCKS MICRONESIAN MALL
The players were divided into teams of 5 comprising players from various countries, meaning that the Fijians got to play with players from others countries in their team. The tournament was held on 3 outdoor courts under cover and one inside court in the foyer of the Mall, named the showcase court. All the team coaches and managers were assigned to a team to help the players to fit into the rather tight schedule.
Our players seemed to enjoy the morning’s activity which went from 9.00am to 1.00pm. The competition was played in pool with the winners going to the quarter finals and then to the semi finals. These and the final were held on the showcase court and attracted many spectators from shoppers around the Mall.
Two of our players were in the winnings teams. Kate Titoko played in the winning girl’s team and Martin Liebregts in the winning boy’s team.
