Korovou, 13, stands tall in the big league

LEBA Korovou is a 13-year-old Class Eight student of Drasa Avenue School who plays power forward for the Lautoka Vikings team.

Korovou made the transition from netball to basketball this year and at 6 foot 2, one is not surprised how quickly she has adapted in her new game.

She represented Natabua High School in the recent 2009 Twisties National Secondary Schools Championships in the U15 category which she helped the team win the U15 girls title.

Korovou is also a national trialist for the under 21 team to the World Championships in Cook Islands and has been representing Lautoka in netball since the 2007 IDC and MH tour.

She is enjoying basketball so much that her family is now actively involved in the sport.

She is supported by her parents Jimione Korovou an LTA officer from Vanuabalavu in Lau and her mum Ilisapeci Korovou, a dental therapist at the Lautoka Hospital who comes from Koro, Lomaiviti.

Korovou enjoys spending her free time chilling with her family.

She also enjoys listening to music, mostly R & B and watching teenage movies.

Her favourite food is her mums cooking.

Leba's sporting dream is to become a dual international in both netball and basketball.

With her current frame and age this could happen.

Her dream job is to become an accountant but she has not ruled out the possibility of setting her sights on the WNBA.
