BASKETBALL FIJI OPENS UP EASTER CLUB CHAMPIONSHIPS IN 2010 TO THEIR PACIFIC BROTHERS
Basketball Fiji is organizing a Club Championships with a difference in 2010. They are extending an Open invitation to other Island Federations, and even Clubs from New Zealand and Australia to participate in their Easter Club Championships.
The Championships will be held from Monday 29th March till the finals on the 5th April. It is hoped that a total of 16 men and 10 women’s teams’ will compete with the slot for overseas teams being limited to only eight on a first-come-first-serve basis.
Fiji hopes to run the competition like an international tournament, and if successful, will hold this as an annual tournament thereafter. Participating teams are expected to bring along at least 1 referee with their teams.
Registration fee will be confirmed in early January together with prizes up for grabs.
Basketball Fiji will also be glad to work closely with interested overseas teams to sort out accommodation and other miscellaneous expenses, and will put a package together for teams once their expression of interest is received.
Expression of interests or any queries regarding this tournament can be sent to either Fiji’s Basketball Secretary Caroline Whippy by email whippy_c@usp.ac.fj, or National Basketball Development Officer Lai Puamau on puamau_lai@yahoo.com.
Fiji looks forward to hearing from their Pacific neighbours soon..
Vinaka vakalevu!
