Kids flock to clinic

THE Raiwaqa Basketball Players Association wants to take the development of the sport to another level by conducting basketball clinics for kids. RBPA official Saula Koroi said the clinic had been conducted over a number of weeks and they were happy with the response. Koroi said since the Raiwaqa basketball revival started two years ago, they had not only concentrated on the competition but also worked on the development part of the sport. "We're happy to see that our clinics every Saturday mornings have attracted a good number of kids who want to learn about the game," Koroi said. "This is part of our work in developing the game in Raiwaqa and surrounding areas. "But we want to make it clear that the clinic is open to kids from any part of Suva who want to learn more about the game," Koroi said. Raiwaqa Basketball development officer Nicholas Wong has been running the clinic and it starts at 8am until 10am. "So if any kid wants to be part of the clinic all they have to do is make their way down to Ed's Court on Saturday morning," Koroi said. Koroi said their competition would start after the clinics and he expects another tough round of matches today. "The standard of competition has been improving every week and this is good for our competition." Koroi said the highlight of the day would be the Tuvili Cinavi Cup Challenge between Barbarians and Waidonu.
