BF ACKNOWLEDGES FASANOC AND FIBA OCEANIA

At the media conference last Tuesday to introduce the National Development Program (NDP), Basketball Fiji acknowldeged the valuable assistance received form several orgainisations and personnel.  In particular the assistance of FASANOC and the IOC Olympic Solidarity Program was acknowledged as a major contributor of funding and technical assistance for the NDP.  Under grants from the Development of National Sporting Systems (DNSS) the IOC supplies funding for several parts of the NDP.  In addition the IOC Solidarity Program also allows for visits by FIBA Oceania Zone Development Officers (ZDO's)to Fiji to develop the sport.  FIBA Oceania also contributes to the success of the NDP through funding for the position of the National Basketball Development Officer (NBDO), Ms Fanny Simpson, the work of the ZDO's in Fiji, the supply of equipment and technical assistance and organisation of the necessary competitions that allow players from the NDP to compete against other international teams.

Other organisations that were acknolwleged as contributors in either financial or administrative assistance were The Ministry of Youth and Sports, The Ministry of Education, Amatil Coca Cola, BP Oil and The Australian High Commission.  The many personnel who make the program work include the parents of the players who pay the for their sons and daughters to attend the program which is mostly funded on a "user pays system", the many coaches andf managers who give freely countless 100's of hours of their private time to work within the program and our NBDO who contributes many hours of volunteer work outside her hours of employment.

To all these organisations and personnel, Basketball Fiji says A BIG VINAKA!

Comment Guidelines: The SportsTG Network is made up of players, families and passionate sports followers like you who have a strong opinion about sport. That's great - we want you to have your say and share your thoughts with the world. However, we have a few rules that you must follow to keep it fun for all. Please don't be rude, abusive, swear or vilify others. Apart from some pretty serious sport sanctions, we also can ban you and report you if things get out of hand.
