RAIWAI GETS GOING AGAIN

The juniors played all morning and were followed by the seniors later in the day.  The junior teams will play games for the next few weeks before a formal competition is commenced.  This is due to may teams continuing to request particiaption and so long time Raiwai basketball volunteer, Kelevi Serukalou is prepared to keep adding teams until he has satisfied all players.   This will mean that the seniors will be pushed out to week day evenings to allow the junior to use the court all Saturday.

AYAD Mark Seccombe assisted Kelevi on Saturday and part way through the games, Mark conducted a short clinic on skills.  In addition to the afternoon clinics conducted by Kelevi through the week, this added to their knowledge on basketball skills.

The enthusiasm of the kids is great and they all wanted to just keep playing.  Several parents made the effort to attend and watch their sons and daughters play.  Between games the parents invaded the court to try to show their children that they also knew how to shoot.

Several players were identified already as future members of the NDP.  Raiwai will once again become an important part of the development of basketball within Fiji.

Congratulations to Kelevi and Raiwai for getting basketball going again.
