Bryce young guns on fire

THE Bryce Youngsters will be represented in all grades in the finals of the Raiwai Basketball Youth Development at the Raiwai Youth Center today.

They have secured their spot in the finals of the under-12 boys, under-12 mixed, under-15 boys and the under-15 mixed grades.

Raiwai Basketball Development coordinator and Bryce mentor Kelevi Serukalou said this was a milestone for the club.

"To make the final in all grades is a big achievement for the boys but they don't just want it to end there -- they want to win it all."

"The results are evident of the hard work these kids have been doing throughout the season," Serukalou said.

But looking forward to the finals, Serukalou said they would have to lift their performance if they want to make a clean sweep.

"All the other teams will be coming prepared so all the Bryce teams will have to give their best shot in the finals."

Serukalou said the performance of all the teams during this year's competition had improved a lot.

"We were lucky to have a volunteer from AUSAID who was helping us out this year and I'm proud to say that the kids have learnt a lot from his development work."

Serukalou is calling on all basketball fans in Raiwai, Raiwaqa and the greater Suva area to come and witness some exciting match-ups today.

"We would like to thank the president of the Fiji Basketball Association, Colonel Iowane Naivalurua for supporting this basketball development competition by providing trophies for all the grade winners."

"After the under-15 boys final at 11.30am we will have a team from the Youth Christian Mission providing entertainment before lunch is provided.

"At the same time we will be having the presentation of trophies to the winners."

Grade finals: U12 mixed Bryce- Saints; U12 boys Bryce-Saints; U15 mixed Bryce-Raiwai; U15 boys Bryce- Saints.
