SPRITE LIGHT $12,500.00 SPONSORSHIP

Basketball Fiji in conjunction with the Secondary Schools Basketball Association has commenced the 2007 SPRITE LIGHT Secondary School Basketball League. Some 32 teams representing 7 schools have now completed their home and away series and this weekend move to the Suva Grammar Basketball courts to start the league proper.

Several of the current players of the Men's & Women's National teams for the Pacific Games in Samoa in August are former secondary school players from the 2005 -2006 leagues.  Letava Whippy, Brittany Hazelman, Sera Colata, Tui Sikivou, Jesoni Kuruyawa, Jese Sikivou and Ratu Isikeli Mara were all playing in this league 2 years ago. Also the National Under 20 teams that took part in Oceania Tournament in Auckland in 2006 were again players from the SPRITE LIGHT Secondary School League.

This year's SPRITE LIGHT Secondary School League bounces off this Saturday at the Suva Grammar courts @ 9:00am.  All thirty two teams will compete each Saturday and spectators can witness a sporting competition with great atmosphere that is added to by the Coca Cola power jammer, rocking the courts with their music.

The league games are used to prepare the teams for the SPRITE LIGHT National Secondary School Basketball Championship on August 25th -27th @ the Vodafone Arena.
