Stars beaten by new faces

THE Tuvili Cinavi Trophy was snatched from holder Veterans by the young Boston side in a closely-fought encounter 22-20 at the Raiwaqa Basketball Court on Saturday. Raiwaqa Basketball Association president Saula Koroi said the match was fought evenly, seeing experience against youth and skills."The Boston players matched their opposition in every department of the game witnessed by the many at the court," he said. Koroi added it was fireworks from the start as the underdogs from Boston stood their ground. Tuvili's son, Eroni Cinavilakeba displayed good counter attack assisted by Mala Ravai and Waisea Dau. "Veterans riding high after winning the Tuvili Cinavi challenge were a class of their own as former Boston players and national reps." They included Peniasi Kainamoli, Lesu Rasova, Allen William Perni Ratumaiyale and Joe Cash. "Most of the Veterans players are former Boston reps," says Koroi. He added it was a match that could be said between the master and the students. Koroi said the competition was a blessing in disguise as it was also accounted as a development purpose for the Raiwaqa Youths. With the Easter Championship looming ahead, Koroi added the challenge was seen as a match to gauge the players' strength for the Raiwaqa team," he said.
