Lautoka b'ball a major force

LAUTOKA basketball will be a major force at the Fiji Games Basketball competition this weekend. The sugar city side will not give up their hopes of winning only their second Fiji Games gold medal in front of their home fans. Lautoka Basketball official Simi Gagilaba said they had prepared well in the past two months."We know other teams will be tough to handle but we have the advantage of training together as a team for quite some time. Our aim is to win gold and we are slowly building on that." Despite not playing any club competition after the Eastern Championship last April, Cagilaba said Lautoka had built on their combination."Our season ended in April and since then we have started our preparation for the Fiji Games. It has been long now and we have built a strong combination knowing each other's game before the competition starts on Saturday," he said. "We are playing in our own backyard and we will be a force to reckon with," Cagilaba said. Lautoka will field two strong men's team led by Peter Chambers, Don Chan and Nicholas Ahjack. Sisters Emily and Chalyn Olsen and Tara Cagilaba will lead the charge for the two women's teams.
