Fiji hosts Oceania U19 champs

Basketball Fiji has won the bid to host the FIBA Oceania Under-19 championship from November 27- December 6. Development officer, Laisiasa Puamau, said they were looking forward to the organising the 10-day tourney.
“We are looking forward to hosting the eight countries,”Puamau said. “This is a great opportunity for Fiji to strengthen its ties with other Pacific Island countries. “This is also a chance for our local officials to officiate at this Oceania event.”
Puamau believes this is a challenge for Fiji but is an opportunity of a lifetime.
“It will be an exciting tournament and will be a huge boost for our players who will try to showcase their skills and talents in front of their home crowd,” he added.
The winner will automatically qualify for the 2015 World U19 Championship.
Meanwhile, Basketball Fiji will be sending a coach and two national U14 reps for the Children of the World Camp in Turkey next month.
