Preparations underway for Fiji Basketball U19
Preparations for the FIBA Under 19 Oceania Championships are well underway.
Players are determined to play their best before the home crowd.
Basketball Fiji will host its first FIBA Under 19 Oceania Championship in December.
Organizers are hopeful that this event will help grow the support locally.
“We gonna use this tournament to up skill our officials, up skill our administrators and the event in four months will be quite a challenge, and will look forward to the challenge, learning and growing from it,” said Lai Puamau.
The association have started preparations. The coaches have selected 13 women and 30 men after an open trial over the weekend.
“Men’s Coach Peni Ratumeli and the women’s coach Dale Wise have selected a strong squad from the Suva area and they will be looking for players next week in Lautoka on Saturday at the Waiyavi Courts,” said Puamau.
Both teams are fortunate to have experienced coaches.
The final 10 member team will be selected in October.
