WU enters FBL finals
Defending champion Western Union showed a lot of heart as they defeated a tough Mam’l Divers Rangers, 84-54 last December 11 to make it to the championship of the 2011 Filipino Basketball League (FBL) at the Palau National gym.
Western Union closed their series with a 2-1 count and will face the Spoilers for a best of three championship series.
Down 13-28 in the opening quarter, Western Union showed its championship form as they made a comeback in the second half as they dismantled the Rangers’ defense as they limited their production to a total of 13 points.
Emerson Patenia led the scoring clutches for Western Union with 24 markers as Joemar Naguit topscored for the Rangers with 13.
According to FBL chairman Ronnie Giman, the knockout game for third place honors featuring the Rangers against the Ilocandia Bulls will be on January 8 at 1 p.m. to be followed by Game One of the finals which will have Western Union taking the Spoilers at 2:30 p.m.
