2009 ACT/Wagga Inter-Service Tournament Report
The annual ACT/Wagga ADF Inter-Service Basketball tournament was held over the period 25-26 July at RAAF Base Wagga. Four men’s and two women’s teams competed over the weekend, with over 50 players competing in the competition. There was a strong level of competition over the weekend, however the Wagga men’s and women’s teams were too strong for the service teams from the ACT region.
The women’s grand final was a close match, with Wagga winning by 9 points (34 – 25). High scorers of the match were ACW Kate Johnson with 15 points, PLTOFF Danni Stone with 9 and AB Bianca Lestuzzi with 7. Wagga also took out the men’s competition beating the ACT Army side 47-28. High scorers of the match included WOFF Ken Robertson 21, AC Shaun Wheatley 10 and SCDT Jarrod Taylor with 9.
The ADBA National Championships will be held later in the year over the period 27 Nov – 06 Dec. Final training and selection for the ACT sides will commence later in the year, for information please contact PO Glyn Hunter on M 0417 970 490 or glyn.hunter@defence.gov.au.
