Reliable imports like Guerero and Camson were too tired to finish a fighting match

DOHA: One Family applied a commanding fast transition offense in the fourth quarter and that’s what it all takes to beat SBQ Best Restaurant ,111-96,in the ongoing elimination rounds of 6th McDonald’s Qatar Basketball Cup 2010 over the weekend at the Al Gharafa Muliti-Purpose Training Gym.

With the win, One Family is now in solo second position in the standing and dealt SBQ its second stinging loss to settle for third place. Still enjoying on top is KBAS Contracting-Banco de Oro which earned its seventh straight win via a default against Opera Café which already bowed out of the conference.

The game was tight most of the way with both teams trading baskets and lead changes until the SBQ front liners Joker Camson, Cris Guerero and Philip Villarosa fouled out with still less than five minutes to play in the game giving One Family more leeway to take advantage of an already depleted opponent relying only small guards Eric Tamayo and Jason Malcontento.

“Reliable imports like Guerero and Camson were too tired to finish a fighting match to the end because they  were not being relieved all throughout the game and that could be a big factor why SBQ losses,” said Pinoy Basketball of Qatar Commissioner Edgar Sambo.

Power forward Anthony Isip of One Family was unstoppable converting baskets mostly in fast difficult fancy passes drive during the transition offense which caught SBQ off guard most of the time. He was the best player of the game with a high-scoring 34 points.

Another One Family reliable was rookie Marlon Serrano who, like Isip, was a big factor to both offense and defense from all other departments of the game.

In the first game,  Qatar Kentz dominated Pilipinas Visdak all the way out of the game, 87-49, to stay alive in the next round. It was their second win in as many games but the victory put them in better position than two other cellar dwellers of the team standings.
