Batang Isarog prevailed over the Jewelers

 

 

 

Five popular professional teams of Pinoy Basketball Qatar (PIBAQ) has been seeing action at the Al Gharafa Indoor Arena as crowd teaser of the ongoing elimination games of Qatar Men’s Basketball League.

Realized under a partnership between PIBAQ and Qatar Basketball Federation, the games turned out to be a crowd puller drawing hundreds of Filipino fans who have been following up closely the games of their favourite hard-court idols playing for the Division-1 teams of PIBAQ’s Subaru Cup 2012.

At the games on Friday, the veteran moves of former MVP Radel Mallari lifted Batang Isarog to another exciting victory, 95-89, against another newcomer and still winless Jewel Advertising. Mallari, a former stand-out of the Philippine Basketball Association, poured in a dominating 43-points.

The reliable combination of Bryan Tolentino with 26 points and Nino Minaz and Poldong Rodriguez who both contributed 22 points each plus the successive three-point plays of Willy Layag was not good enough to drive Jewel Advertising to desperately taste its first win in five outings.

At the games in the Division-2 played at Al Gharafa Training Gym, Dukhan Ballers led by CJ Casas who also currently played for Gharafa team for QBF’s under-16 basketball league, dumped its sister team QP Dukhan, 68-52, to lead the league with a clean four wins and no losses.

The two teams organized by the Filipino workers of Qatar Petroleum in Dukhan community has been doing well and on top of the standing in the Division-2 of Subaru Cup 2012.

In other games, QDVC LRT escaped a narrow victory over KBAS Contracting, 75-74, after the buzzer beating conversion by Archie Palconit with three seconds left even as former MVP Pocholo Santos tried to led a rally for his team with his 17 points contribution.

Gilas-3 whose 73 points was nailed for most of the five-minute extension play suffered a heartbreaking loss in the hands of Karwa Mowasalat which pulled away to win the game, 93-79.

Other game winners were KIA Motors against IMCO Engineering, 76-71; Consultants-Ralos against Qatar Knights, 66-58; Natsco Garage over Smeet Precast, 80-43 and Familia Bisdak against Al Dar Exchange, 71-64.
