DOHA: It was a sweet victory for team Mabuhay Restaurant, which defeated One Family with a 15-point advantage during Game 2 in the best-of-3 championhsip series of the 15th Season of Pinoy basketball of Qatar (Pibaq) Men’s Basketball League-President Alvita Cup 2014 held at the Al Gharafa Training Gym recently.

Mabuhay’s Eric Tamayo once again led his team in upsetting One Family which bagged the first win the championship round. Game 2 concluded with the final of score of 80-65.

With both teams now enjoying one win each, the third and final showdown in the tournament’s championship to be held on Friday is expected to be a nail biting one that could go either way given the same level of motivation of the two powerhouse teams.

One Family was leading during the first of the match. With the onset of the third quarter, Mabuhay finally took on the lead and never looked back since then.

Despite being fouled out with 2:43 minutes left in the final quarter, Tamayo left the court confident of the status of his team with 9-point lead. He finished with 24-points, 5-assist, 5 rebounds and 3-steals. In the absence of Tamayo, Jonard Dugay stepped up his game to secure the win for their team.

“The members of SBP (Samahang Basketbol ngPilipinas) National Referees headed by Homer Balbin and Hernan Flores and SBP Senior Referees Glenn Layson and Gerald Gapas performed well in officiating both game 1 and 2. I expect game 3 to be equally successful in terms of referee’s performance and the outcome of the championship round, “commented Pat Carido, President and founder of Pibaq.

The ongoing 15th Season of Pibaq Men’s Basketball league is being presented by Diana Jewellery & Watches, Boracay Filipino Restaurant and August Sports Tailor.
