BVDL WEEK 18 GAME PREVIEWS

BVDL MEN

KILSYTH vs KNOX

Saturday 28th July – 8:15pm

The winner of this game gets the Minor Premiership and home court advantage should they meet again in the Grand Final in two weeks’ time.  Kilsyth are on a five game winning streak and have defeated Knox twice already this season.  However the difference in this game may just be the addition of Australian U/17 World Silver Medallist Ben Simmons who has not played in the two previous games this year.  Simmons is one of the future stars of Australian Basketball and Kilsyth will need to stop him if they are to seal the victory.

BALLARAT vs FRANKSTON

Sunday 29th July – 1:45pm

Both teams have struggled all season, but the Miners will enter the game full of confidence after winning two games last weekend.

NUNAWADING vs BENDIGO

Sunday 29th July – 2:30pm

After starting the season with five wins in their first six games Nunawading had a disappointing end to their season, dropping seven of their last ten games and have missed the playoffs for the first time.  Spectres coach Dean Gluyas will be keen for a victory this week and finish the season on a positive note.

SANDRINGHAM vs DANDENONG

Sunday 29th July – 2:30pm

With both teams having secured a playoff position, and their first week opponent determined the previous night, this game will be a great chance for both teams to practise offences and fine tune their systems so they are ready for the finals next week.

BVDL WOMEN

KILSYTH vs KNOX

Saturday 28th July – 6:15pm

Having sealed third position, the Knox Raiders will be seeking revenge on the Lady Cobras this week, having lost to them by 2pts in round 15.  Rivalry between these two clubs is intense at all levels of competition and Kilsyth coach Ed Dunstan will be keen to secure another win against his rivals and finish what has been a very inconsistent season with a victory.

BALLARAT vs FRANKSTON

Sunday 29th July – 12:00pm

Both teams enter this game with long losing streaks next to their name, so both will be keen to finish the season on a positive note.  Ballarat have won all four games at home this season so will be hoping home court advantage helps them this week, as they have lost twice to Frankston already this year.

NUNAWADING vs BENDIGO

Sunday 29th July – 12:30pm

Nunawading will win the Minor Premiership and earn home court advantage throughout the finals, whether they win or lose this game.  They have the head to head advantage over Dandenong so can’t lose top position.  Although both teams will meet again next week in the first round of playoffs so the Spectres will be keen to secure the win, remain undefeated at home and gain the psychological edge.

SANDRINGHAM vs DANDENONG

Sunday 29th July – 12:30pm

Win or lose Dandenong will finish in second position for the second consecutive season.  Dandenong has already defeated Sandringham twice this season and will be confident of winning again this week.
