Hwa Chong finished the National Junior College League undefeated and were worthy winners.
The League was not simply about one team though, with four teams all tied for third coming into the last Round of Fixtures.
All games in Round 7 were essential to determine the final placings and all the coaches were keeping a close eye on the other games and calculating the number of touchdowns needed.
Millennium Institution came into the last round holding onto 3rd place on for and against and were pitted against the very strong National Junior College team. After scoring first the Millennium girls were looking to cause an upset, however they were unable to maintain their form throughout the game and finished with a very credible scoreline of 5 touchdowns to 3, allowing National Junior College to cement their 2nd placing in the League.
In the game between Nanyang Junior College and Pioneer Junior College, Nanyang had to win by at least 2 touchdowns to draw level with the other teams sharing third spot and then score as many more as the other winning teams scored. At half-time it appearred as though they would be unable to achieve this as Pioneer were playing well and had held Nanyang to a 2 all draw at halftime.
In the second half Nanyang were able to step up and went on to win 8 touchdowns to 4. the question now, was that enough to finish in front of the winner of the Raffles Junior College - Serangoon Junior College game.
Both Raffles and Serangoon knew that the winner of their game was probably going to claim 3rd spot on the table. The game was played at a great intensity with no easing up by either team. At the end of the game Raffles had run out winners 4 touchdowns to 2.
It now became a matter of tabulating the scores to determine the final placings. After recording all the results Raffles and Nanyang were still tied on for and against and it came down to percentages, with Raffles being awarded 3rd place on percentages.
The Final Standings being:
Gold - Hwa Chong Institution
Silver - National Junior College
Bronze - Raffles Junior College
