Captains’ Diary
Prepared by: Rachel Nadia Goh (Captain) and Claudia Sng (Vice-Captain)

Brisbane / Ipswich / White Hills, 28 August 2009 – Day 1
640am - Landed at Brisbane International Airport. Jet lagged. Many of us couldn’t sleep on the plane. A 2-hour drive to Ipswich to go, hopefully we get to stop for a bite of Aussie food soon.

11am – Met with the 4 girls from South Queensland Sharks, they’re going to be playing with us for the State Champs. They’re only 16 years old and already have been playing for about 7, 8 years. Charlotte, Emma, Charlie and Hannah … Emma is going to visit us in November, already looking forward to taking her to the Zoo, Night Safari, Sentosa.

330pm – Setting out for White Hills. We have a pre-tournament friendly then we’ll get to watch a couple games of the Brisbane Touch Championship, which is the premier club championships in Queensland.

5pm – Tigers game. First game of our tour!

The Tigers girls were very friendly and fortunately we started our Tour with a good win.

We watched a few club touch games. The pace of the entire game was fast from the start to the end. These Aussies are speedy. We’re super inspired to start fitness training next Friday.

We also got to meet the former captain of the Australian Women’s Open team, Sharyn Williams. She had some good advice for us on playing the game, and many encouraging words, maybe we will be just as good someday.

And we had ice chocolate, treat from Greg. Greg is our friend.

Dinner was at Nandos, we want more peri-peri sauce to bring home! The extra spicy kind.

Ipswich, 29 August 2009 – Day 2
Woke up at the crack of dawn to get to Limestone Hills  Super duper excited for ALL of today’s games. We’re going to be sharing the South Queensland Sharks tent, thanks Sharkies

We had ice baths after EVERY game! *shiver* but our legs feel really fresh after the ice baths. Oats (our team manager) kept us well fed with Gatorade, fruit and lots of yummy snakes.

We had chicken rolls from Red Rooster for lunch, and the Sharks gave us a typical Australian BBQ for dinner.

Jolene, Helena, and us hit the books after the games and before dinner too!

Our Tournament results today:
Singapore 1 - NQ Cyclones 3
Singapore
0 - SQBD Sharks 9
Singapore 0 - Brisbane City Cobras 6
