NEW OFFICERS.
At the recent 2010 AGM of the KAA, a number of new officers were elected to join the KAA Executive Committee.
The new President is Mr. Eneree Tataio, the incumbent Albert Brechtefeld having resigned due to increased work and family commitments. Albert was thanked for his efforts and time on behalf of KAA and for taking on some Secretarial duties in the current absence of the Secretary !
Interesting to note that Eneree was the first overseas athlete to represent Kiribati in Oceania or World competitions when in 1998 he was taken by the current Secretary to Tonga to compete in the OAAA u-18 Championships, before we were even members of OAAA or IAAF. (This was arranged at the invitation of the then Executive Director of OAAA (now OAA), Mr. Bill Bailey.) He broke the NRs for 100m. and 200m.
In addition, the AGM elected Mr. Tekabwara Arobati as the new Assistant Secretary. As with others of the Executive, Tek is teacher and an ex-athlete (on throws). In 2009 he passed the Oceania CECS Level 2 Coaching Award.
The former Assistant Secretary, Mr. Simon Burennatu, is now one of the male Committee members.
There is also a new Athletes' rep. named Ben, taking the place of Tekooki Teieka who tragically died suddenly at the beginning of the year.
It is hoped that the new team will happily work together for the continued advancement of KAA and its members.
