PIONEERING !
As the result of our 60m. Trials on Monday, Rabangaki Nawai has been selected to compete in the M60m. in the World Indoor Championships in Valencia, Spain, in March. He won both Trials, against other reputable sprinters, in times of 6.9 and 7.1.
His participation in Spain will be another significant step in the history of KAA. In 2000 we had a team which finished in the World Cross-Country in Portugal, in that year the ONLY OCEANIA team to attend. That was part of our history too. We have never competed indoors before, so the experience will see a further development and more publicity for Kiribati !
TRAVELLING FIT THIS TIME ?
It is to be hoped that there is no "deja vu" on this occasion. When he went to the World Junior in Grosetto in 2004, he injured his leg a few days before departure. He ran in a heat of the 100m., still injured, and DID NOT FINISH LAST !
He is looking forward to the challenge.
