EXPLORATORY TRIP !
One of the best multi-events athletes in Oceania has travelled to Spain to compete indoors for the first time. Knowing the great importance of the start in the short sprints (60m.), he has worked hard on reaction and technique. Plenty of speed wok has also been done. His team-mate, Tim Natua, has spent the last three weeks of training as his training partner and, over the short distances, they have been well-matched. So whatever is achieved in Valencia, some of the preparatory credit will be due to Tim.
Having flown from Kiribati to Brisbane last week, Rabangaki has been living some of the time with I-Kiribati students in Brisbane. He was also fortunate to be offered accommodation by the OAA Executive Director, Mrs. Yvonne Mullins. If he has stayed fit and healthy, he will travel to Spain with the Oceania contingent today ready to try to break new ground and maybe dip under 7 seconds ?
Since no-one from Kiribati has ever done this before, it is like an exploration, or maybe an experiment. By Saturday morning, we should have a result.
