Midori Men Yap Youth Champions

Midori men proudly hold their Champions Trophy
2nd place Tamil with their trophy

Midori (83) put in their best game of the year to defeat Tamil (51) in Game 2 of the Yap Youth Tournament over the weekend. With a solid game plan involving full court man to man defence and an offence that spread the floor well with screening off the ball, Midori were a class unit.

After winning game 1 the week before by only 2 points, no one expected them win by 30 points. They were well coached and they should be congratulated as they no doubt have put in the hard work to earn such a result.

The organisers of the tournament, the referees and the score bench officials all deserve big thank you’s for their efforts. Without them, the spectacle that was Saturday night at Gatumoon Court would not have taken place.

Well done to all involved, we now look forward to the junior league which will be starting in the coming weeks.

All interested referees are also reminded that visiting Australian Basketball Expert Ryan Burns will be holding a referees course starting Monday 30th June at the ECE Conference room in Colonia, Yap. All interested persons are welcome to come and learn the skills of the referee.
