Yap Referees at the Youth Tournament Chamionship

The Yap Junior League is well under way as the 3rd game was played last night at the Yap Sports Complex. Embracing the best junior basketball players that Yap has to offer, the league is proving to be very competitive and is attracting strong spectator numbers as people make the journey to support their villages.

All games have been played in a great spirit and have been highlighted by some excellent coaches as many teams have deomstrated the used of man to man defences, full court trapping defences as well variations to the standard zone such as playing the 3-2 zone. The teams that have managed to use their tactics most effectively are proving that team prepartion and training is the key to winning matches, especially when there is such a generous spread of talent across all of the competing teams.

Not to be forgotten, the referees have also demonstrated their abilities by doing an excellent job of officiating all matches. Without the constant efforts of the game's whilsteblowers the standard of the league could not be so high.

We look forward to seeing you at the Junior League matches that are on every Monday, Wednesday and Friday evenings from 7pm at the Yap Sport Complex.
