Basketball ends season in Lautoka

The Post Shop Easter National and Suva champs Shaq Attaq who have the service of national reps David Whippy and Laisiasa Puamau will be gunning to repeat their early success in the upcoming National Christmas Club Championships which on December 12 at the Lautoka multi-purpose courts.

However, this will not be an easy task as the defending Easter Champs have been out of competition due to the Suva Laucala Basketball Association taking an early break early in the season.

It will be interesting to see if the Shaq Attaq outfit has what it takes to win the grueling one day competition.

Also participating in the event is Lautoka champs and Easter runners up Vikings who will be thirsty for revenge after losing their 2008 Easter crown to Shaq.

The Vikings will be led by Simione Cagilaba and boosted by national rep Jale Vunisa and U20 rep Peter Chambers.

Also registered in the competition is the Jese Sikivou led National U22 champ Freshman and the recent SKY Technologies 2009 Raiwaqa men's champion Byrceland who narrowly defeated tournament favourites Idaman to win the tournament.

Young and upcoming team Mighty Mights who is coached by Saula Koroi have proving in recent competition that they can not be taken lightly as the continue to create shock waves after recording recent wins over ex-Raiwaqa champions Warriors and Boston.

In the women's division newly-formed team Golden Bati continues to turn heads in the Raiwaqa Basketball League.
