Thursday knockout at Ed’s Court

Mighty Mights, Boston, Warriors and Sharks are favourites at the Raiwaqa Basketball Association knockout tournament on Thursday at Eds Court. Mights featuring players in the national men's u20 side will face stiff competition from Tu Vili Cinavi Trophy holder, Boston and other favourites Shaq Attack and Easter Games champions Saints. RBA president and national u20 coach Saula Koroi said the tournament is sponsored by AU Graphics and will run for three days beginning on Thursday, Friday with finals on Saturday. So far 10 men's' teams and six women's teams have confirmed their participation in the tournament. The only new inclusion will be the Police side as an invitation was extended to them also. "The tournament is expected to be a repeat of the Easter Championship featuring all these teams,' he said. "Mighty Mights will send two teams and expectations are high since we have all these top clubs confirmed for the tournament. "We would also like to thank our sponsors for the great help and we are looking forward to a great week of local basketball competition. In the women's competition, favourites Saints and Wed C are also expected to battle it out at the Eds Court on Thursday. Koroi added the presence of former national women's rep and South Carolina basketball rep Valerie Nainima has been greatly felt in the local basketball fraternity. Nainima is also expected to boost the knockout tournament this weekend.
