Crossroads defend title

CROSSROADS made their fourth consecutive defence of the Tuvili Cinavi Challenge Trophy in the weekly Raiwaqa Basketball Association competition at the Ed's Courts in Raiwaqa. The Peniasi Kainamoli led side defeated Grantham, which had services of Fiji rep Sakenasa Aca, 44-34 in a thrilling feature match on Saturday night.

Raiwaqa Basketball official Saula Koroi said Crossroads had been one of the dominating teams since the start of the inter-lane competition last month. "It was a tough tussle between the two teams (Crossroads and Grantham). Both teams had services of national reps which boosted the level of the match," he said.

"We also had the Kaji competition and the women's games and we are very pleased to see the increasing number of teams coming in every week." Koroi also said the association would start-off with their club competition from this week to prepare for the upcoming Easter Championship to be held next month.

"Top seven clubs playing in the Raiwaqa Basketball Association competition will get a chance to represent Raiwaqa in the Easter Championship," he said. "With our development program ongoing, we remain optimistic of sending the best prepared and competitive teams to the Championship."
