West teams ready for Easter b'ball

THE Western teams are all ready to come out firing at the Fiji Taki Easter Basketball Championship this week says Nicholas Wong.

The tournament which was earlier scheduled for the Easter weekend was postponed because of the adverse weather condition that struck the Western Division last month.

Now it has been rescheduled to this week and Wong is anticipating an exciting clash from the top teams in the country.

Wong, a former Raiwaqa Basketball official said the western teams would be fired up to deliver the killer blows against any opponent with the ambition to overcome last month's tragedy.

He said the devastating flood would be a motivational factor for the west teams and they would be at their best against the other top teams from the Suva and Raiwaqa associations.

"I think they will be more eager and determined to win games especially after how the recent flood affected their lives," Wong said.

Teams like Blue Devils and Nadi will be representing the western side in Suva.

The Blue Devils of Lautoka will leave for Suva ontomorrow.

He said the eastern teams would always struggle against the western sides.

"The west teams are always tough to beat.

"I can say they (west teams) are very fit so I believe they will be up there also against rest of the competition," Wong said.

The tournament kicked off last night.
