Basketball Fiji eyes talents for upcoming tourneys

Basketball Fiji officials have identified out standout players from the Tuckers Ice Cream Secondary Schools competition for upcoming overseas tournaments.

Basketball Fiji Development officer Laisiasa Puamau says they will be selecting a squad in the under 15 and under 19 age categories.

Puamau adds the squad will be working with South Carolina University graduate and national rep Valerie Nainima.

“So those are two tournaments that the secondary schools players can look forward to, those who get selected and they’ll be working with Valerie Nainima during the third term of the school calendar.”

Officials are looking to prepare a national Under-16 squad for the FIBA Oceania three-on-three tournament in Australia next year as well as an under 19 squad for the FIBA Oceania youth championships to be held here in Fiji.
