FORMER under-19 champion Marist Brothers High School is eager to right its wrong after a surprise defeat to Yat Sen Secondary School in the opening round of the Tuckers Ice-cream Home and Away Secondary School basketball championship last week.

Today, the Flagstaff boys, face a tough challenge from John Wesley College, a game they need to redeem their worth.

However, it will not be an easy tussle as JWC will be banking on its key players such as Sydney Leveney, Jordan Toganivalu and Apisalome Lutuciri to lead the charge.

The trio were named in the Fiji U19 training squad after impressing during the trials last week.

For MBHS, its Fiji U19 players in Joshua Tubua, Belasio Baleinaveikau and Francis Bulai will need to step up to the challenge.

"It's going to be a tough game," said Basketball Fiji's official Apenisa Naitini.

"Marist will want to bounce back from losing to Yat Sen last week but John Wesley is never an easy side to beat.

"They got some players in the national U19 squad so we're anticipating a tough game."

MBHS plays JWC at 4 o'clock at Ed's Court in Raiwaqa this afternoon.

In other U19 fixtures, Gospel High School plays Laucala Bay Secondary School while Yat Sen takes on Ratu Sukuna Memorial School at 4.30pm at the Yat Sen courts.

Meanwhile, defending U19 boys champions, Latter Day Saints College is yet to play. The Tamavua-based school defeated Lautoka Central in the final last year.
