THE Fiji under-19 basketball teams received a major boost in its quest to win the 2014 FIBA Oceania U19 Championship to be held in Suva next month.

Yesterday in a milestone partnership between BLK and Basketball Fiji, the sports apparel manufacturing company presented apparel for the Team Fiji management and coaching staff, playing uniforms, training gear and track suits

BLK, which normally sponsors rugby, has for the first time ventured into another sport at national level in the country.

BLK general manager Josefa Matau said they were pleased to support Basketball Fiji.

He said through supporting basketball, the company was showing its commitment to other sports and not only rugby.

"BLK will work with Basketball Fiji in providing the latest apparel that will enhance performance and we look forward to the future," Matau said.

"We hope that today's historic event will not only uplift but also boost the performance and the preparation of the Fiji National team towards the upcoming Oceania tournament."

Basketball Fiji also got the support of Tanoa Plaza Hotel, Suva which is sponsoring the championship official ceremonies.

Basketball Fiji president Iowane Naivalurua, in thanking the sponsors, reminded the players the importance of the championship.

He said the support that they received from both sponsors would go towards making them a better person.

FASANOC vice-president Manasa Baravilala was also present during the presentation.

The championship will be held from December 1 to 6 at Vodafone Arena in Suva.
