Men's basketball team bounces back

THE Fiji men's basketball team played the games of their lives to bounce back and win an all important game against Tahiti 75-67 at the BSP Arena in Port Moresby.

 It was a must win game if Fiji is to have any chance to qualify for the semi-final. After losing to Guam the previous night, this game was a must win for the team.

Fiji started slow and Tahiti took the lead at first quarter and were three points ahead at 19-16. The second quarter was a disaster for Fiji as Tahiti surged ahead to lead 40-27 at half time.

Then the fight to stay in the competition and win the gold medal became a realisation for the team as they got their act together.

The team narrowed the score to 52-51 at the end of the third quarter and an amazing final quarter saw the team win 75-67.
