Basketball Receives Boost
Fiji Basketball got a major boost when they received sporting equipment worth $250,000 from the Shanghai HouDao Investment Development Company Limited yesterday.
Handing over the equipment to the sporting federation was Shanghai HouDao Investment Development Company Limited president Deng Peng. Peng is also the Fiji National Tourism Group Director.
He said the donation was a way of contributing to the community in Fiji.
“I like basketball very much and also Fijian people,” he said. “I try my best to help Fiji with this contribution and I hope this relationship with Fiji will last forever,” he said.
Fiji Basketball Treasurer Ben Sukuri had recognised Peng and his company’s generosity.
He said: “I would like to acknowledge Deng Peng for his support. This equipment will actually assist our programmes in clubs, schools and it’s a great help to us being a minor sport.”
