Raiwaqa basketball rated

The weekly Raiwaqa Basketball games has been highly rated by Basketball Fiji. BF development officer Laisiasa Puamau said the weekly competitions help drive interest of many young players. This, he added is one of the best ways new talents could be unveiled when a national team is selected. “Weekly games help us mainly in our selection process,” he said. “With the number of players taking part in the competition we are hopeful of a positive selection process for the national squad. “Many young and upcoming players take part in the games which shows that the sport is growing rapidly in the country.” He added the combination of players in the teams with senior and young players playing against each other help mould young players and give them experiences they need at the same time uplift their game standard. National players with the likes of Sera Vugakoto, Mitchell Whippy and other players have been in top form in the previous games giving many ideas of the sport to young players in their respective teams. Puamau added the weekly games also helps players maintain their fitness level and at the same time give them more ideas and clues on how they could better their performances in coming games.
