Thank you and congratulations from FIBA Oceania

Smith was especially impressed with the drive to establish a firm set of personal and community values through basketball.  The concept of using basketball to mould a strong set of values is often talked about, but in Fiji, the concept is put into practice at every opportunity.

"The progress made by Basketball Fiji is quiet remarkable, but is clearly the result of outstanding leadership by President Iowane Naivalurua.  Iowane has an excellent group of enthusiastic and committed volunteers around him, and together they are forging a whole new outlook for basketball in Fiji.  It was inspiring to be in Fiji and to see the transformation in progress."

Smith came away even more impressed with the work and talents of Fiji's NBDO Lai Puamau. "Lai has a passion for basketball, and combined with his fine intellect and strong work ethic, he is making things happen right around the main island.  We have been impressed for sometime with the huge improvements being made by Basketball Fiji through Lai's work, but seeing the results of his work first hand were even more impressive."

Once again, on behalf of Regan Kama and Steve Smith, a big vinaka to all of our Fiji friends for a wonderful visit.
