Fijians in All Stars team

 

Bulou Miliakere Koyamainavure, Leba Korovou, Vika Fifita and Josh Motofaga will team up with other Pacific Island players in Australia to form the Oceania team. 

And they will be playing in a tournament called the Australian Country Cup Tournament. 

The four players were part of the Under-20 Fiji Basketball team that went to New Caledonia in October last year. 

The All Stars Oceania team consist of the best players from around the Pacific region. 

Fiji U20 women’s coach to New Caledonia Seini Dobui was selected by the FIBA Oceania sports to coach the All Stars Oceania team. 

“I have been selected as the All Stars coach and also our manager has been selected the All Stars manager,” said Dobui 

“This would be a great challenge for me because I will have to find a way to communicate with my players and get them to respect my decisions as well as theirs to me. I am honored and excited to be chosen to represent Fiji and Oceania in this tournament because it will give better opportunities and a lot can be learned from it,” Dobui said. 

According to Dobui the All Stars team are injury- free and are ready for the battle. 

“Preparations are going well and there is no one injured so far and the team is fit and ready.

“I just want to thank Basketball Fiji for their support, FIBA Oceania for making this trip possible for us and not forgetting the families of the players who have been a great support and having a lot of faith in us.” 

The tournament consists of 64 teams from around Australia. It is considered one of the best tournaments for youths in Australia. 

“My women’s team is made up of 10 players; 2 from New Caledonia, 3 from Tahiti, 3 from Fiji, 1 from Guam, 1 from Vanuatu. All I can say is that preparations are going well,” said Dobui. The team departs for Australia this Friday.
