Raiwaqa boys assist

The Raiwaqa Under-14 team hits the limelight in the opening day of the Twisties National Secondary Schools Basketball competition at the Vodafone Arena yesterday.

Games co-ordinator Laisiasa Puamau said the inclusion of the side from Raiwaqa was to assist development in the junior division.

“We brought them into this competition so that they can help develop competition in the junior grade,” Puamau said.

The U14 side will be playing against the U15 teams from all schools.

The Raiwaqa boys are still attending Primary schools and are used to the sport as they play in their own club teams every Saturday at Ed’s Court.

The side played their first game yesterday against Natabua and won 35-5.

Marist and ACS will defend their titles in the U19 categories.

New inclusions to the game include Tavua College, Lautoka Central, Saint Thomas and Nadi International.

The winners will receive $150 pizza voucher, $100 movie voucher and a shield. Best players for the U15 grade will receive $50 while U17, U19 will receive $100.
