Boston Reds too pacey for McPacers

BOSTON Reds netted two crucial baskets to clinch the Raiwaqa Basketball knockout tournament against favourites Mc-Pacers 31-29 in the men's final at Eds court on Saturday night.

Mc-pacers headed into the final with an unbeaten run but we stunned with the brilliant performance of Boston led by national rep Eroni Cinavilakeba.

Fiji under-20 reps John Kunau and Anare Tabuduka played huge roles for Boston in the win.

Boston Reds defeated Easter champions Warriors in the semi-final while Mc-Pacers beat Boston White in the second semi-final.

In the women's division, the Seini Dobui-led Lady Birds edged champions Sparks in the semi-final before beating Reds 24-17 in the final.

Raiwaqa Basketball Association official Saula Koroi said the tournament ended on a high note.

He said despite the festive season, teams showed sacrifice and prepared well for the tournament.

A development league for junior players ranging from six-15 years old.

Koroi urged all interested juniors players to join the league next Saturday at Eds court from 8am.
