Raiwaqa Knock-out Results

The two day kockout tournament that was organised by the Raiwaqa Players Basketball Association was hailed a success. 14 men teams competed in the 2 day event with pool games played on Fridays. On the seconday day only eight teams was remaining. Babarians (winner of last knockout) and lead by National rep David Whippy, Freshman lead by All- Star rep Jese Sikivou, Bryceland lead by Serf Petterson (National Under 20 rep 2004), Boston lead by Eroni Cinavilakeba (Under 22 Gold Medal team in 2002), Phillipinas (Philipian community living in Fiji), Idaman lead by Koli Matalau (2007 SPG Gold medal team) and a star studded Warriors team lead by Saki Rokodi and Frank Saketa (both 2007 SPG and under 22  gold medalist).The competition was fierce in the quarters and semi- finals rounds. Idaman captain Koli Matalau hit a buzzer beater to win the game from the half way line and knockout defending champions Babarians in the semi-finals while Warriors beat Byrceland in a close encounter. The finals the Warriors team lead by National reps Saki Rokodi and Frank Saketa used there experience to defeat a fired up Idaman team. The warriors basketball team were crowned the champions of the Knock- out tournament organised by the Raiwaqa Players Association.
