Monfort Boys Town and Navua plays first Official Match

On Tuesday 18th August Monfort Boys Town basketball team played an official match with a youth team comprising of youths living in the Navua area. The game which was played at Monfort Boys out door courts at 5pm was a start of a new era for basketball in Fiji. Monfort Boys which was a team more prepared were coached by National U20 Men's coach Laisiasa Puamau and Australian Youth Ambassdor for Development Mark Seccombe defeated a well trained team from Navua. The Navua team was coached by ex-rookie club player Kris Stice. Kris Stice is helping develop basketball in Navua and is doing an excellent job. On hand to officiate the game was Nicholas Wong who is one of Basketball Fiji's upcoming referee's. Basketball Fiji congratulates both teams for their galiant efforts during the game. The principal, teachers, Monfort and Navua spectators appreciated the incentative from Basketball Fiji in arranging the match. It brings great joy to see Basketball come to life at Monfort Boys. Basketball Fiji would also like to acknowledge Kris Stice and his Navua Youth teams for taking on the challenge to take part in the official basketball game. We look forward to a strong parnership in the years to come with Monfort Boys and the ethusatic youths living in Navua. More official basketball games is scheduled to be played between the two teams after the National Secondary Schools Basketball Championships.
