THE champion Vikings has taken an early lead in the Lautoka Basketball Assoc-iation League competition. Vikings lost their first match in two years last week against Nadi 30-34. The Vikings play Youn-gsters at 2pm this afternoon. Lautoka basketball official Simi Cagilaba said the league competition was very competitive as they approached the Easter Championship. "This is round three of our league and we've seen a lot of improvements every week,' Cagilaba said. "Vikings and Nadi shared the lead but Vikings have a better points differential. It's very interesting to see how the competition goes from now on." Cagilaba said Nadi looked to be the side to beat. Nadi is boosted with the services of Neil Tudreu and John Tora. Cagilaba said the association had started their Easter Championship build up. "Vikings is a champion side but the Nadi side is giving them a tough time. All the teams are gearing up for the Easter Games and that is our main focus," he said. Meanwhile, Drasa Avenue school teacher Atu Qabale and Emily Chambers are conducting basketball clinics for young andf interested players between the ages of seven to 15-years old at the Multi-purpose Courts in Lautoka. Cagilaba said they were expecting a lot of children today. The LBA league starts at 1pm at the Multi-purpose Courts.
