Shaq Attack Warriors at Ed's

Shaq Attack won the Boston Post Fiji Championship title after defeating Warriors at the Raiwaqa Eds Court.Tournament organising committee member, Eroni Cinavilakeba said Shaq with their national reps got stiff competition from the Warriors in the final.

Warriors had a few national reps too in the sport but Cinavilakeba said it was the experience and height in the Shaq Attack side that gave them the upper hand on Saturday. “Shaq had the height and experience advantage but Warriors gave them a good run in the 27-20 win.” Shaq had national reps Lai Puamau, Sikeli Mara, Adrian Bossley and David Viti while Warriors had Frank Saketa, Peniasi Sokosoko and Sakeasi Rokodi.

In the girls division, the Under 20 White won 28-18 over the Golden Bati. Cinavilakeba said they organised the three-day tournament to keep the interest in the sport going. “Usually we only look forward to the Easter Championships so the decision to run the tournament was also based on creating interest and keeping the sport alive.”

Cinavilakeba added they were also the first club in the sport to organise and run a tournament. “We have also learnt many lessons in running a tournament; this is a great learning experience for us.” “It has also helped Boston to keep a strong bond amongst the players.”

Cinavilakeba believes that organising small tournaments as such helps players and teams in their build up towards the Easter Championship.

Shaq Attack won $600 prizemoney.
